Position: Strategy & Operations Intern
Position overview
The Fried Center for the Advancement of Potential (FCAP) at UVA's Student Health and Wellness Center is seeking a qualified Strategy & Operations Intern to support the Center's administrative operations, operational improvement, and growth initiatives within a clinical training environment. FCAP provides functional fitness training services to UVA students and the greater UVA community.
This position combines hands-on administrative support with operations, data analysis, technology, and marketing responsibilities. The intern helps maintain efficient day-to-day clinic operations through front desk coverage, scheduling, billing support, client follow-up, resource management, and intern coverage, while also identifying opportunities to improve FCAP's broader workflows and processes.
The intern supports the integration and ongoing management of FCAP's EHR system, collects and analyzes operational and client data, identifies workflow inefficiencies, and helps develop and implement solutions that improve efficiency and the client experience. The role also supports FCAP's marketing and outreach efforts, including social media and initiatives designed to increase awareness and grow the Center's client base.
Compensation: The FCAP leadership team considers significant involvement in committee(s) and clinic roles during bi-annual intern reviews and when determining compensation changes. Additionally, committee hours can be clocked as PD time up to 2 hours per week β reach out to leadership if more time is needed.
Key responsibilities
Administrative & Front Desk Support
- Support front desk operations and serve as coverage as needed.
- Manage supplementary administrative responsibilities, including billing, appointment scheduling, cancellations and rescheduling, client follow-ups, and maintaining printed resources and materials.
- Fill in for FCAP interns and address day-to-day administrative or operational gaps as needed.
Operations & Management
- Support day-to-day clinic operations and identify opportunities to improve workflows, efficiency, and the client experience.
- Lead EHR integration and ongoing system management, including workflow design, data organization, and process improvements.
- Collect and analyze operational and client data to identify workflow challenges and develop practical solutions.
- Support implementation of new processes and procedures designed to improve efficiency and client outcomes.
Marketing & Growth
- Oversee FCAP marketing and social media initiatives.
- Develop outreach strategies to increase awareness of FCAP and grow the client base.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen client acquisition, engagement, and retention.
Overall role objective
The Strategy & Operations Intern supports FCAP's daily administrative needs while taking ownership of initiatives that improve operational efficiency, client outcomes, and organizational growth. The role combines hands-on administrative support with data-driven problem solving, process improvement, EHR management, and marketing, while remaining flexible to fill gaps across front desk operations, intern coverage, and other areas of the clinical workflow.
